GUIDANCE FOR WIMIN AMBASSADORS

Thank you for being a WIMIN Ambassador and joining us in our mission to promote gender equality in the music industry. Your commitment to our cause is greatly appreciated.
As a WIMIN Ambassador, it is essential to embrace our core values and contribute to creating a more inclusive and empowering environment.
Here are some key points to guide you:

WIMIN Values
We uphold the following fundamental values:
-
Inclusivity: We value the diverse perspectives and experiences of everyone, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
-
Empowerment: We strive to empower and support women in the music industry by providing equal opportunities to showcase their skills and learn from others.
-
Safety: We prioritize the safety and well-being of event attendees, volunteers, staff, followers, and artists by fostering a secure and welcoming environment.
-
Creativity: We celebrate and encourage creative expression, innovation, and experimentation in music production and performance.
-
Community: We foster a sense of community by providing a platform for attendees, volunteers, staff, and artists to connect, collaborate, and share their knowledge and experiences.

To help you uphold these values,
as a WIMIN Ambassador,
please keep the following in mind:

-
Understand intersectionality: Recognize that feminism encompasses various forms of oppression that intersect and impact different communities. Acknowledge and address the experiences of marginalised groups, including those based on race, socio-economic background, education, life experience, trauma, culture, LGBTQ+ individuals, disabled individuals, and others.
-
Listen and learn: Representing a diverse movement, it is crucial to listen to and learn from women with different experiences and perspectives. Educate yourself on various issues and respect the multitude of perspectives that women bring to the table.
-
Speak up against sexism: Utilise your platform as a WIMIN Ambassador to raise awareness about sexism and discrimination both within the music industry and beyond. Use your voice to advocate for gender equality in all aspects of life.
-
Avoid tokenism: Refrain from using women or marginalised groups as mere tokens or props to promote a cause. Instead, strive to work with and support diverse groups of women, amplifying their voices and providing meaningful opportunities for them to be heard.
-
Support feminist causes: Extend your support to feminist causes and organisations beyond the festival. This can involve donating to women's rights organisations, promoting women-led businesses, or speaking out on issues that affect women's lives.

Promoting the WIMIN Festival
To promote the WIMIN Festival and engage with the community, please consider the following activities:
-
Attend WIMIN events: Join us at various WIMIN events, such as the upcoming Style Swap Social on 8th and 9th July. Your active participation will help create a vibrant and supportive atmosphere, fostering connections with fellow ambassadors, artists, and attendees.

Share these visuals on your social media platforms, utilising the official hashtags and tagging the WIMIN Festival. Your contributions will showcase the energy and excitement of the event, inspiring others to participate.
